A letter from Kevin Wrenn, President, Pleasanton National Little League.
Pleasanton National Little League is a community-based program for youth, staffed solely by volunteers. During the 2004 season, over 500 children ranging from ages 4-18 participated in practice and team play over a three to four-month period.
Funding for the league comes from several sources: player registration fees, snack bar profits, league-based events, and community involvement in the form of sponsorships. Registration fees and snack bar profits cover the many expenses and operating costs involved in running the league each season such as leasing field space from the city of Pleasanton, field maintenance, new uniforms, hats, and equipment.
COMMUNITY SPONSORS
Each year representatives from Pleasanton National Little League reach out to community businesses and individuals to solicit interest in sponsoring the League. The success of this effort along with league-based events has enabled Pleasanton National Little league to fund a post-season program that provides players with the necessary entry fees, equipment and uniforms to participate in these tournaments. These monies also allow the league to respond to unplanned expenditures which inevitably arise during the course of a season.FAMILY SPONSORS
The league would like to open up the opportunity for sponsorship to the participating Pleasanton National Little League families. During the 2005 registration process, families will be given the chance to donate money to be used toward the purchase of coaching aids. The types of coaching aids generally used and available include the Hit-a-Way, Hit Sticks, extra balls, portable backstops, and portable bases. These aids are "extras" that some coaches purchase themselves to enhance the effectiveness of team practices. The league would like to make sure all coaches have what they need over and above standard league equipment. This is your opportunity to help out.
