Pleasanton National Little League
New Geographic Boundaries for Pleasanton
October 6, 2005

As we prepare to begin registration for the 2006 spring season of Little League, Pleasanton American, Foothill, and National Little Leagues would like to announce two important changes that will affect our three leagues. First, beginning in 2006, there will be new geographic boundaries for all leagues. The new boundaries were a mandate from Little League International and District 57 based on population changes within our leagues. To meet the required mandate, representatives from the three leagues met over the course of several months to look at the current boundaries, participating populations from each school, and all possible options. The new boundaries are a result of the cooperative effort of all three Pleasanton little leagues, meet the mandate from LLB International and D57, and have been approved by the Boards of the three leagues. The boundaries have been drawn around the nine elementary schools in Pleasanton, and each league has been assigned three elementary schools:

American (PALL)
  • Donlon
  • Fairlands
  • Mohr
  • Foothill (PFLL)
  • Hearst
  • Lydiksen
  • Vintage Hills
  • National (PNLL)
  • Alisal
  • Valley View
  • Walnut Grove
  • Children that live within these school boundaries, regardless of where they currently attend school, will play in the league associated with these new boundaries. One of the advantages of these new boundaries is that certain elementary schools are no longer split between two leagues.

The second major change comes from Little League International and it involves a date change for calculation of “Little League age”. For 55 years, Little League has used the date July 31 to determine “Little League age” and the division the child will play in. Beginning in 2006, “Little League age” will be the age of the child on April 30. This change will permit some children to play in the division they were in last year for one more year. In the coming days and weeks, you will receive information regarding registration. Please contact your league registrar with any questions you may have regarding the divisions, the age change, etc.

All three Pleasanton Little Leagues have embraced a desire for a united Pleasanton Little League. Although we will still remain Pleasanton American, Pleasanton Foothill, and Pleasanton National Little Leagues, as mandated by Little League International, we are committed to maintaining a united little league with a united voice. We are also looking forward to uniting our activities in 2006 as well, starting with a joint Opening Day and joint Family Fun days. We hope that our little league families will embrace these changes along with us as we continue to strive to provide a positive and healthy sports experience for the children of Pleasanton.

We thank you in advance for your support of Pleasanton Little League and look forward to a great 2006 season.
