12's Remain Undefeated - Advance to District 57 Final Game
July 13, 2004

An email from Kevin Wrenn, PNLL President

Congratulations go to our 12 year old All Stars on a great victory tonight in the semifinals of the District 57 All Star tournament! PNLL shut out Livermore American tonight by a score of 4-0 behind a strong offense and defensive effort by the whole team. The boys were really ready to play and started off by scoring a quick run to go up 1-0 at the end of the first inning. They scored two more runs in the third to increase the lead to 3-0, got an insurance run in the 5th and then shut Livermore down in the bottom of the sixth for the win. The defensive effort was outstanding with Livermore only getting two hits the entire game. We had a large crowd out there tonight to cheer the team on, and the 10 and 11 year All Star teams scheduled their practices early so they could be there as well. I think there were almost 100 people from Pleasanton to cheer on Big Blue. I want to thank the players, coaches and parents for all the efforts and support and especially tell the boys how proud all PNLL is to have them represent Pleasanton for D57. Now the final game is yet to come!

The championship game is Thursday afternoon at 3pm at Athons Downs Field #3 in San Ramon (Directions) against the winner of the Tassajara American vs. Livermore American game which is being played tomorrow night. I really want to encourage as many folks as possible to come out and cheer for our team and I must tell you this is the first time a team from Pleasanton has made it to the finals in 28 years. Yes that’s correct, 28 years! The least time was 1976, which for the record was when I graduated from high school! And, another small fact I estimate our manager Paul Pluschkell was finishing his little league career at about 12 years old!

This is a very exciting time for PNLL and I hope you will all try to come out on Thursday to share in the experience.
