    Question #3

There's a runner on first base when the batter hits a line drive to the outfield. The lead runner falls as he rounds second base, so he goes back to second. The batter wasn't watching the runner ahead of him, so he touches first and heads for second. Both runners end up on second base. A fielder takes the ball and tags both runners.

What should the umpire's call(s) be?

      1. The lead runner is out and the batter stays on second base.
      1. The batter is out and the lead runner stays on second base.
      1. Neither runner is out because they are touching a base, but one of the runners must immediately leave second and run towards an unoccupied base.
      1. Both the lead runner and the batter are out because two players cannot be on one base.
